Minecraft is the most popular game in the world. And for good reason. It has a massive community that allows players to craft amazing virtual worlds. As the game has expanded over the last decade, players are now able to create almost anything in block form. The talent in the Minecraft creator community is stronger than ever and the builds are mind-blowing.
Truth be told, we don’t play a lot of Minecraft. But having professional experience in both game development and engineering, we are fascinated with the quality of many creator builds. The amount of planning and detail that goes into them is absolutely jaw-dropping. So we decided to round up our three favorite Minecraft builds of the year (so far).

Build: City of Lithonia
Creator: Varuna Builds
This fantasy city build is absolutely massive. It has over 3000 buildings, with interiors. This incredible build features an arena, government structures and three towers located around the perimeter of the city. The vast landscape surrounding the city walls is gorgeous as well. A mountainous terrain with plenty of trees. The thing we love most about this build is the sheer size and attention to detail. We can only imagine the time and planning that went into it. Truly a monumental undertaking.
Build: L’Ariadel Ship
Creator: NRGmix
Not all Minecraft builds are large sprawling cities. This European-inspired sailing ship was crafted with an inspiring amount of detail. It is hard to believe the masts, sails and ropes were all made with blocks. The proportions and perspective of the vessel are excellent. The builder was even able to create realistic waves. The boat looks like it is moving across the Atlantic. The whole composition is impressive, but for us the color usage is next level. The combination of blues, whites and browns come together in perfect harmony. Beautiful.
Build: The Lost Kingdom
Creator: VoenixX
This last build is one of our all-time favorites. It showcases an amazing ocean scene (constrained within a large cube). Above the water there is an island beach featuring a couple buildings and a ship (similar to the one above, as this creator has collaborated with NRGmix). The underwater scene is absolutely breathtaking. The sea creatures and underwater vegetation create an aquatic world that feels alive. The way the creator was able to merge land and sea in one compact composition is spectacular.
Minecraft isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Over the last decade, it has managed to build a massive community full of amazing creators. And as seen in the three builds above, the creativity bar has been set pretty high. We can only imagine what builders will come up with next.
